Independent contractor status
Experts are independent contractors and not employees, agents, or partners of HANDiY. Experts are responsible for their own taxes and any applicable licensing.
Revenue share
Experts receive 65% of completed session revenue. HANDiY retains 35% to cover payment processing, platform operations, support, and safety.
Admin review before payout
Expert earnings move from Pending to Available only after admin review and approval. Withdrawals are paid out via Stripe Connect to the expert's connected account.
Escalation bonuses
When an expert escalates a project to a contractor, the expert may earn an escalation bonus only after (1) a vetted contractor accepts the lead, and (2) the contractor's lead-fee payment to HANDiY succeeds. Bonuses are not awarded for declined, expired, unpaid, or unnecessary escalations.
Quality and safety
Experts must provide accurate, safe, good-faith guidance and must refer projects to a qualified professional when a task exceeds safe DIY scope (gas, major electrical, structural, hazardous, or emergency situations).
Suspension
HANDiY may pause or terminate expert accounts for repeated low ratings, unsafe guidance, abusive behavior, fraud, or misuse of the escalation system.
